Duel.com has switched on Duel Arena, a player-versus-player game mode at duel.com/arena. It is marked BETA, it has 12 games, and every one of them is you against another person for a stake you choose.
What launched
The lobby shows 12 tiles, all labelled “PvP game”:
Poker
LinkedIn or Interpol
Color Find
Flappy Bird
Connect
Tranny or Not
8 Ball
EthnoGuessr
Tetris
Wordle
Type Racer
Sudoku
- Poker: heads-up against one opponent
- 8 Ball: turn-based pool
- Wordle, Sudoku and Type Racer: identical puzzle or passage for both players, fastest or cleanest solve wins
- Tetris and Flappy Bird: score-attack arcade
- Connect: connect-four
- Color Find: spot the odd-coloured tile first
- EthnoGuessr, LinkedIn or Interpol and Tranny or Not: Duel’s photo-judgement games
EthnoGuessr was the first of these to surface, in a private beta a few weeks before the full lobby appeared. The others arrived together with the Arena launch.
How a match works
- Pick a game and set a stake. There is no fixed bet ladder, so any amount your balance covers is allowed. Both players put up the same stake.
- Fill the other seat. Wait for an open opponent, challenge a friend, or share an invite link or code.
- Play. The winner's balance receives both stakes in full. Duel markets the Arena as 0% rake and 0 fees, forever.
Friends, requests and invites
The right-hand panel is new. It has Friends, Requests and Add Friend tabs with a search box, so you can build a list of regular opponents. Below it, an Invites box lists pending match invitations. If someone sends you a code, the Join Game button in the top-right of the lobby is where it goes.
That makes the Arena the first part of Duel with a proper social layer. Until now the closest thing was the chat box next to the live blackjack table.
Why it matters
Duel’s pitch so far has been a 0% house edge on Originals. The Arena goes further: no house at all, and Duel markets it as 0% rake and 0 fees forever, so the winner takes both stakes in full. For a skilled Type Racer or heads-up poker player that is a better deal than any house game. For everyone else, it means the person on the other side of the table is the edge.
Same name, different product: this is not the Duel Arena fight promotion that ran in Orlando in August. Both belong to Duel.com.
Getting in
You need a funded Duel.com account. If you are creating one, enter referral code DUEL5 at signup, since the field cannot be filled afterwards. Then open Arena from the main menu or go straight to duel.com/arena.
We will update the Duel Arena games guide as the beta changes.
